Dal suo debutto, il lavoro di Yue Minjun è stato presentato in numerose gallerie a Singapore, Hong Kong e Pechino.[9] La sua opera Execution è diventata l'opera più costosa mai realizzata da un artista contemporaneo cinese, quando è stata venduta nel 2007 per 2,9 milioni di sterline (5,9 milioni di dollari) da Sotheby's a Londra.[10] Fino alla sua vendita da Sotheby's a Hong Kong nel 2007, questo dipinto era stato di proprietà di Trevor Simon, un giovane banchiere d'affari che lo acquistò con circa un terzo del suo stipendio mentre lavorava nella regione. Simon ha tenuto questo dipinto in deposito per 10 anni come richiesto dalle condizioni di vendita.[11] La vendita del disco è avvenuta una settimana dopo che il suo dipinto Massacre of Chios è stato venduto da Sotheby's di Hong Kong per quasi 4,1 milioni di dollari.[12]

 

Mostre
Durante l'"Anno della Cina" in Francia nel 2003/2004, ha partecipato alla mostra "Cina, il corpo ovunque?" tra cui 39 artisti cinesi contemporanei come Zhang Xiaogang, Wang Guangyi, Fang Lijun, Yang Shaobin al Museo di Arte Contemporanea di Marsiglia [fr].[13]

La Kunsthalle Mannheim sotto la direzione di Rolf Lauter ha già integrato opere di Yue Minjun, Fang Lijun e Yang Shaobin nelle sue prime nuove presentazioni 2003/2004 della nuova collezione.[14] Le costellazioni con i ritratti del XIX secolo - Maillol e Rodin - così come le opere di Jeff Wall e Alex Katz trovarono una risposta critica e ampia in Germania all'epoca.[15]

La prima mostra museale di Yue Minjun negli Stati Uniti ha avuto luogo al Queens Museum of Art, Queens, New York. La mostra, Yue Minjun and the Symbolic Smile, comprendeva sculture, dipinti e disegni in bronzo e policromi e si è svolta dall'ottobre 2007 al gennaio 2008.[16]

La prima grande mostra in Europa dedicata all'artista dal 14 novembre 2012 al 17 marzo 2013. La Fondation Cartier pour l'Art Contemporain ha presentato la prima grande mostra europea dedicata all'artista cinese Yue Minjun, un'occasione unica per scoprire l'opera di un artista che, nonostante la sua fama internazionale, continua a mantenere un profilo relativamente basso.
